When in Rome...

I mean Copenhagen, get on a bike. 

It would be fundamentally wrong to not see Bike City* on wheels. Illegal. In every way. 

Bicycles are by far the best way to see Copenhagen. It's so easy to do, too. Amongst the many options, I went for Donkey Republic, a self-service rental app that has bikes ready to go throughout the city. It's kind of like Citi Bike, except you don't have to check in every 30 minutes; keep riding for as long as you want, parking and reparking whenever, wherever.

The freedom! No waiting for the bus, metro, or cab. Explore and stop when a glimmer catches your eye. Then go at it again–pedal away to your heart's content. 

* Sorry, Amsterdam. I don't mean to share your special nickname with another. Technically, Copenhagen is Bike City of the north, but for the sake of space I'm going to leave out "of the north." You'll always be my first Bike City, I promise.
